Full Description
The principal feature uncovered (in Trench I) was a deposit of limestone rubble running along the edge of the platform. From the rubble and the soil around and under it came numerous sherds of Med pottery. In Trenches II and III substantial rubble was uncovered, with a possible wall face in each trench. The rubble in Trenches I and II also incorporated quantities of iron slag, one fragment of which appears to preserve the shape of its bowl furnace. In addition to the pottery already mentioned, other finds included iron nails, glazed tile and stone spindle whorl. Interpreted as a domestic site, possibly a croft on the edge of the Med village. The pottery indicated occupation until at least 1300 AD. (1)
