Full Description

Interlocking rectilinear features (cf brickfields) but closely spaced. Possibly geological. (1)
Morph: 14.3.1 ditch, 14.3.2 ditch, 14.5.1 boundary, 14.5.2 boundary, 14.6.1 boundary, 14.6.2 boundary, 14.9.1 ditch. (2)
A rectilinear pattern of apparent ditches seen as cropmarks is dominated by natural, probably periglacial, features. The former view of the cropmarks on this site as a southern outlier of the brickwork plan field system must now be regarded as dubious. Further lengths of several ditches were excavated, all proving difficult to date, and not one having given rise to any of the recorded cropmarks. (3)
See L2283 for continuation of cropmarks.
