Description
Stripping of topsoil from a further 1.15ha block of land gave an opportunity to examine more examples of the charcoal-laden pits investigated in previous years. 24 pits were scattered over the recent area, all close to circular, 13 were excavated. No dating evidence recovered. Ditches seen as cropmarks considered to be natural features. Former view that cropmarks on this site were part of the brickwork plan field system is now regarded as dubious.
