Description

Watching Brief during the excavation of 27 trenches of varying size forming part of works to an ex-isting pipeline, 4 of which were in the area of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Margidunum. Roman pottery from Margidunum (SAM 1742) from watching brief during excavation of pipe trench. 3rd and 4th century Romano-British pottery found in stratified layers within the trenches in the area of the SAM of Margidunum interpreted as an occupation or demolition layer. Pottery ranged in date from the 1st to the 3rd century.
