Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out on land at 1-9 King Street, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire between 14th December 2009 and 5th January 2010. The work was carried out on behalf of Sapphire Primary Care Developments in advance of a new health centre. The work involved supervision and inspection of machine excavated footings for any indication of archaeological activity. The results of the investigation proved negative apart from identifying 19th century cellars, one pit and a possible beam-slot extending perpendicularly away from King Street.
