Title Land at Langar Lane Colston Bassett Nottinghamshire: Heritage Desk-Based Assessment
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2014

Abstract/Summary

A Heritage Desk-Based Assessment of land to the south of Langar Lane, Colston Bassett, Nottinghamshire was undertaken. The proposed development is the construction of a solar farm. No designated or non-designated heritage assets are recorded within the site. No prehistoric or Roman remains are recorded within the site; however, there is evidence for settlement and other features associated with these periods within the wider study area, in particular to the west of Langar Hall. A study of aerial photography of the site did not yield any indication of features associated with these periods. It is therefore considered that the potential for currently unrecorded archaeological remains of these periods within the site is limited. The site lay beyond the focus of the medieval settlements of Colston Bassett and Langar and therefore there is limited potential for remains of medieval settlement within the site. The settings of all designated heritage assets within 2km of the site have also been assessed.
