Title Land at Melton Road, Edwalton: Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Assessment
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2008

Abstract/Summary

The DBA draws together the available archaeological, historic, topographic and land-use information in order to clarify the extent of any cultural heritage resources on or near the study site. The assessment considers land approximately 70 hectares in extent at Edwalton, Nottinghamshire that was considered for development. “The available evidence indicates that the archaeological resources within the application site are of local importance” The site is considered to have a limited potential for the presence of prehistoric lithic material, since other SMR evidence in the area is limited. It is therefore concluded that the archaeological potential of this site is limited. The report contains summaries of site visits which took place in 2004, 2007 and 2008 and a detailed history of the site with reference to archaeological finds and features. Appendices include a desk-based assessment report from 2007, a geophysical survey report from 2007, and a draft evaluation report from 2008.
