Title Cultural Heritage Desk-Based Assessment: Lowdham Flood Alleviation Scheme
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2018

Abstract/Summary

Desk-based assessment and site inspection by Jacobs, for EA, of area affected by flood alleviation scheme. The assessment concludes that there would be slight setting impacts to several designated assets and to the character of the historic landscape. There are also assets of low resource value (such as a former hedge bank, ridge-and-furrow, and a linear cropmark feature which may be natural) which may be impacted. In a review of LiDAR data, supported by a site inspection, relict ridge-and-furrow has been identified in the Recreation Ground. Given that there is a potential for archaeological assets to be impacted during groundworks, targeted archaeological evaluation is recommended.
