Abstract/Summary

A program of trenching was undertaken on a site west of Great North Road, Ranskill, as part of a residential development. The site lies on the periphery of the historic settlement, in an area that was part of the medieval open field system. Geophysical survey of the site to locate a sinkhole also identified responses in the northeast corner of the site that were interpreted as possible features or buried metal objects. Trenching across the site was negative for any buried archaeological features or horizons.
