Abstract/Summary

A detailed magnetic gradiometer survey was undertaken in connection with a proposed service station development on land south of Melton road, Hickling, Nottinghamshire. The survey area totalled c. 2.5h. The site has no known archaeological activity, although in the Roman period, the Roman thoroughfare, the Fosse Way, borders the site to the west. The survey has not identified any archaeological anomalies, but the west of the site is heavily disturbed due to the construction of the A46 and may mask weaker anomalies.
