Abstract/Summary

Planning consent has been granted by for the “conversion of existing garage block to an annexe, demolish existing timber shed and brick bunker and construct a single storey extension” at Church Gate Cottage, Colston Basset. A planning condition required the implementation of a watching brief during the groundworks phase of the project which was undertaken between the 1st and 8th February 2021. No archaeological features were identified within the monitored area. The naturalgeology did not appear to be truncated and had archaeological features been present it is likely that they would survive in good condition. Despite this area proving to be negative, archaeological potential remains high for the surrounding area.
