Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was carried out on land at 9 Rectory Place, Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire, NG11 0AL in advance of the construction of a new dwelling.
The development site comprises an area of hard-standing and lawn to the east of the house at 9, Rectory Place which also contains a small outbuilding and sheds.
The site lies within the historic core of Barton in Fabis, within which are a number of listed buildings and a Scheduled Monument. In addition, the Historic Environment Record for Nottinghamshire indicated a number of known, although not closely dated, archaeological remains in the area including: an undated cropmark containing an enclosure and a ring ditch around 130m to the south-west and a linear bank earthwork located 150m to the south-east.
The area of the development was striped under archaeological supervision revealing three undated ditches and a pit, also undated.
