Abstract/Summary
This report presents the results of an archaeological trial trench evaluation undertaken at 5 Moor Lane, East Stoke, Newark on Trent. It was advised that a programme of archaeological trial trenching should be undertaken to assess the preservation and character of any archaeological deposits which might survive at the site. The evaluation was undertaken retrospectively as the bungalow has already been constructed.
The evaluation revealed a single ditch which was probably part of an agricultural enclosure or a field boundary located at the periphery of the occupied area of the village. Soils of agricultural origin overlain by hard standing deposits were recorded but no artefacts were recovered.
