Abstract/Summary

A scheme of archaeological evaluation trenching on land at former Noble Foods factory site, off Kirklington Road, Bilsthorpe. The site lies to the south of the historic village of the Bilsthorpe Moor area. Formerly a poultry packing factory sat upon the site until it was demolished in c.2016. Due to the site being previously developed, the site was unsuitable for geophysical survey; sample trenches investigated archaeological potential. The results of the evaluation confirmed that the impacts of the construction/demolition of the factory had impacted on the interface between the subsoil and the natural geology. Trenches in the east of the site where this interface was preserved were negative for any archaeological horizons.
