Title A46 Farndon PA Freight: Geoarchaeological Assessment of Auger Survey
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2016

Abstract/Summary

In August 2016, a geoarchaeological auger survey of land to the north of Farndon Fields Farm, Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire was conducted. This was in advance of the building of an access road to a freight haulage company’s yard at Farndon Fields and associated drainage works. Twenty-four locations were provided by Cotswold Archaeology for the auger holes. The Made Ground is assessed as having no archaeological nor palaeoenvironmental potential. The Made Ground is believed to have truncated at least some of the Holocene deposits, whether truncation of the Pleistocene strata has occurred was not determined.
