A geophysical survey was undertaken to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 1.8ha area of land to the west of Pinfold Lane, Elston, Newark. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed and no anomalies of probable or possible archaeological origin have been identified. The geophysical results primarily reflect evidence of agricultural activity and modern features. Linear ploughing respoces may reflect the remnants of a ploughed out ridge and furrow regime; a more recent origin is also possible, due to the poor clarity of the responses.
