Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out between the 8th of November 2007 and the 13th February 2008. The development site for the construction of sheltered apartments is located atChurch Street, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. The site is bounded to the east by Church Street, to the north by Derby Road, and to the south by Woodland Way. No archaeological deposits were observed in any of the groundworks, and it appears that the site had been terraced, for 19th-20th century industrial buildings, the footings of which were noted during the excavations. No pre-modern artefacts were noted. Any medieval or post-medieval occupation is likely to have fronted on to Church Street or Derby Road. If present this had been disturbed by the 19th-20th century development on the site.
