Title Land at Woodgate Road, East Leake, Nottinghamshire: Archaeological Evaluation Report
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2014

Abstract/Summary

A scheme of archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land at Woodgate Road, East Leake, Nottinghamshire. This work was designed to comply with a condition imposed on outline planning consent for the construction of 65 dwellings, access, amenity space, allotments and an attenuation pond. No significant archaeological remains were found. Medieval ridge and furrow cultivation extended across most of the site, although not in the south. A linear feature was seen representing a drainage or boundary ditch following the former continuation of Rempstone Road, which was laid out in 1799. There was no sign of a road or track surface suggesting that at this time Rempstone Road was a bridleway or lightly made track.
