Title Casual Find of Later Prehistoric Material at Gringley Carr
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2010

Abstract/Summary

Upon conclusion of a site visit to Gringley Wharf on the 20th of September 2007 and owing to the length of journey about to be undertaken in order to return to base, the author found it necessary to stop at the end of the road in order to make a detour behind a secluded tree. Casual inspection of the field margins on the way to and from the aforementioned tree revealed a flint core, probably of late Neolithic / early Bronze Age date, along with a concentration of heat affected stones, located on a slight sandy rise on the very edge of the great expanse of flat peat stretching out northwards, towards Gringley and Misterton Carrs.
