Title Site Inspection on Groundworks for Construction of a Path, Seating Areas and Shelter at South Wheatley
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2012

Abstract/Summary

The author undertook a site inspection visit to examine groundworks at a site in South Wheatley, Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire, on 26/04/2007. The site was subject to a project to install a curvilinear path, seating areas and shelter in what had previously been a grassed piece of land. Excavations were to a maximum depth of 0.2m and were undertaken utilising a toothed bucket. Consequently, no archaeological features were visible. However, investigation of the stripped surface and scanning of the spoil heaps yielded an assemblage of early post medieval ceramics and later glass, along with a few bits of late 20th century debris.
