Title Evaluation at Land East of Blyth Road, Perlethorpe, Newark and Sherwood: Archaeological Trial Trench Evaluation
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2024

Abstract/Summary

Archaeological trial trenching was undertaken on land east of Blyth Road, Perlethorpe, in order to provide information to support an application for planning permission relating to the construction of a new reservoir. The trenches revealed a low to moderate number of generally undated archaeological features, the majority small and linear in form. A large feature excavated to the very south of the site may be part of a moat or large enclosure that was noted from aerial photographs taken by the RAF and noted in the Nottinghamshire Historic Environment Record.
