Date/Year 2005

Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during house construction and associated ground works on land off Atkin Lane, High Oakham, Mansfield. The site had been identified as being of archaeological significance due to the proximity of known archaeological sites dating from the Romano-British period. Topsoil stripping of over half of the 1.4 ha development area was observed. A post-medieval trackway was located aligned northeast to southwest. No further archaeological deposits were revealed although fire cracked pebbles were present in the topsoil.
