Title Top Yard Farm, Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire: Archaeological Watching Brief
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2022

Abstract/Summary

This report results from an archaeological watching brief carried out at Top Yard Farm, Rectory Place, Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire, monitoring groundworks associated with the construction of a residential scheme of up to 8 dwellings and the retention of one brick-built barn following demolition of existing large agricultural units at Top Yard Farm. The scheme involved monitoring a process of ground reduction established after the demolition of structures present onsite as well as the excavation of nine test pits within the development area. All test pits documented building debris associated with the building formerly occupying Top Yard Farm. One test pit also yielded building debris most likely associated with a rectangular enclosure observed in map editions dating from the 1880s to the 1950s.
