Abstract/Summary

A desk-based assessment to support a planning application for an energy storage compound at land to the east of Nottingham Road, Barton in Fabis. There are no Listed Buildings, Scheduled Monuments, Conservation Areas, Registered Parks and Gardens Registered Battlefields and World Heritage Sites within the 1km area of search. The application site is not assessed to be within the setting of any designated heritage assets. The 1km study area does include one designated heritage asset just beyond the boundary which dates from the prehistoric to Roman period, and eighteen non-designated heritage assets from the prehistoric to post medieval period. There is one recorded non-designated heritage asset within the application site. The date of this feature and its significance is unknown. The baseline data has recorded that the area around the application site has been subject to a number of archaeological investigations in recent years, primarily to the north at Clifton and Fairham Pastures. This work has revealed evidence of human occupation activity from the prehistoric, Roman, medieval, and post medieval periods. The archaeological potential of the application site is assessed to be up to moderate, and any unknown heritage assets with archaeological interest which may survive within the site are likely to be of low (local) to moderate (regional) heritage significance.
