Description
Three N-S rows of 1x1m test-pits were excavated, spaced at intervals of 40m from N-S along the lines of proposed topsoil or subsoil stores and 80m apart W-E. Each pit was excavated in a series of 50mm spits to sufficient depth to establish the density of finds in sub-ploughsoil layers, and was sieved for finds (7mm mesh). (1)
