Description

A preliminary scheme of archaeological investigation. The investigation area extended over c.5.25 hectares. A JCB mechanical excavator with a 1m wide toothless bucket was used to excavate a total of 26 test pits at regular intervals across the site. Ground conditions permitting, test pits were excavated to the maximum depth attainable with the machine (2.5 - 3m). (1)
