Description

Two trenches, 01 and 02, each c1.5m by 15m, were excavated on the lines of the foundation trenches of the proposed new building, at the rear of the existing building. The trenches were mechanically excavated largely to the surface of the natural, followed by the manual excavation of samples of the buried soils along the section in order to obtain dating evidence for their deposition. Finally the surfaces of the trench bottoms were cleaned and limited excavation of the features identified was carried out. (1)
