Description

Three trenches (Trench 01: 3x30m, trench 02: 3x30m, trench 03: 4x30m) were excavated on a NW-SE alignment perpendicular to the line of the suggested Roman road. Trenches 1 and 2 were machine excavated to a level below the natural sands and gravels. An 11m length of Trench 03 was excavated by hand at its NW end, the remainder being machine excavated.
