Description
To determine the date, extent, nature and preservation of any archaeological features within the proposed development area, twelve evaluation trenches were excavated across the site. Topsoil and interface layers were removed using a … toothless ditching bucket, under constant archaeological supervision. 315m2 of available ground was sampled. Archaeological deposits were located in seven of the twelve trenches, these all being located in the low lying areas of the site, in particular close to the street frontage with Main Street. (1)
