Description

8.9Ha of arable land split over 3 fields were surveyed. A former field system (probably Roman) – this lies towards the western part of the site and corresponds with the conclusion of the desk based assessment that the site would have been attractive to Romano British Communities. The survey has identified a former field system, which is possibly Roman in date. A possible enclosure and two other linear anomalies of possible archaeological origin have also been detected, however these could equally relate to modern features or agricultural activity. Former field boundaries and areas of modern ploughing suggest that the area's agricultural usage continued through the medieval period and into modern day. The remaining anomalies are natural or modern in origin, relating to land drains, ferrous objects, and fencing
