Description

One evaluation trench at Besthorpe Quarry, north-west of the village of Collingham. The objective was to assess the impact of hedgerow growth on Roman archaeological deposits known to exist in Area C. One trench machine excavated through the field boundary/hedgerow transecting Area C. The trench was 8.5m long and seventeen stratigraphic units recorded. Roman finds were recovered from features. Grid ref approximate and deduced from hedgerow location in 1996 APS as no grid ref or figure given in the report.
