Description

The application area consists of four fields, broadly triangular or rectangular in shape that lie to the south of woodland and other fields. The site is bordered to the south by roads and modern housing. The site is currently used for agriculture and has been ploughed prior to planting of a new crop. The total area of the site is c.37.5ha (92 acres). The fieldwalking survey has revealed evidence for a low scatter of worked flint in all four fields. The assemblage contained a mix of both tools and debitage, this may pointto possible prehistoric activity within this area. Of note are the two arrowheads which had probably been brought in as they were not of locally derived flint. The remaining finds observed comprised post-medieval, modern pottery sherds, modern brick which are likely to have resulted from manuring spreads being added to the fields.
