Description
The site is located 0.8 km south of the centre of North Muskham, on the west side of Main Street. The site measures approximately 3.9 ha in area and comprises of arable land which lies at 10.00m AOD.
The methodology required that Plots 1, 2, 14, 15, 16, as well as significantly deep service runs or ground reduction areas along the eastern limits of the site be monitored for archaeologicalfeatures/deposits during development. The site was monitored in two phases, the initial phase consisted of monitoring Plots 1, 2, 14, 15, 16, the second phase concentrated on a large soakaway to the south east of Plot 16. Plots 1, 2, 14, 15, 16 were machine stripped down to a formation level of approximately 0.50-0.60m, bottoming onto subsoil. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded throughout these plots.
This programme of work concluded that natural soil, subsoil and plough soils were present throughout the areas monitored and that no archaeological features or deposits were present.
