Farleys Farm is situated approximately 3km to the west of Tuxford and 15km southeast of Worksop in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire. The site is currently agricultural land to the north of Ollerton Road. An area totalling approximately 8 hectares was available and suitable for fieldwalking. The fieldwalking survey was undertaken by a team of three experienced surveyors, supervised by the author, during April 2019. The collection sample comprised a c.40% sample of the areas available for survey, and this was achieved by means of a series of 2m wide collection traverses at 5m spacing. In each traverse any artefacts found were placed in plastic bags with a unique, sequential numerical identifier. Finds were located by hand held GPS – a Garmin eTrex10 and a Zeno 20 Leica GS08 Netrover GPS receiving RTK corrections. Modern brick, tile and ceramic land drain were not retained. A total of seventeen finds were recovered during fieldwalking. The earliest finds were four fragments of worked prehistoric flint. These all comprised small flakes, which could not be more accurately dated than as broadly prehistoric. The pottery assemblage consisted of a sherd of 16th century Midland Purple Ware, and four sherds of 17th century black glazed redware. Eight fragments of ceramic building material were also recovered, including a piece of 19th/20th century salt glazed sewer pipe, three fragments of brick and three fragments of tile, all of a likely 19th century date, and two undated pieces of daub.
