Description
The Old Vicarage is situated at the northern end of Langford immediately to the south of the church of St Bartholomew. It is off Holme Lane, west of the A1133.
The foundation trenches were excavated by machine to depths required by the development.
The natural deposit across the site was yellow sand. This was overlain with a thick subsoil devoid of finds above which was a made ground layer comprising topsoil and brick rubble from the recently demolished outbuildings. The brick cistern for the vicarage was also exposed.
The lack of archaeological features and finds meant the site did not contribute to the archaeological research agenda for the East Midlands.
