Description

The site is located 2km west of the centre of Beckingham and encompasses some 1.9 hectares. Twelve trenches measuring 30m long by 1.6m wide were opened to the top of archaeological deposits or the surface of the underlying natural geology, as appropriate. The subsequent trenching revealed limited archaeological activity comprising two small pits and one tree throw, although the latter could be due to natural causes. These were located in two trenches. The general lack of archaeological evidence across site suggests there was minimal human activity, most likely limited to agriculture. No artefacts were recovered from the investigation.
