Description

The proposed development site lies 500m southwest of the centre of the village as defined by the parish church of All Saints. The site lies east of Hemplands Lane, north of Grasmere Farm and west of Cuckstool Dyke and encompasses some 3.36 hectares. Excavation was undertaken by a mechanical excavator with a toothless bucket, monitored by an archaeologist. No Saxon or medieval features were observed. Two potentially post-medieval agricultural features were noted and several modern features were observed.
