Abstract/Summary
A programme of monitoring and recording was carried out during the construction of a housing estate off Hemplands Lane, Sutton on Trent, Nottinghamshire. The village is thought to have been founded in the Saxon period and stonework of this date has been recorded at the church which lies near to the Site.
The monitoring revealed two features which may be post-medieval agricultural features and several modern agricultural features. No features of Saxon or medieval date were encountered.
The finds included a large number of post-medieval or modern pottery sherds and small amount of medieval pottery sherds and modern glass.
