The site is located 11km east of Worksop and 2km south of Retford. The survey area is bounded to the north by Retford Golf Club and houses of Glen Eagles Way / Hill View Road. The study area comprises 65 ha. Magnetometer - Bartington Grad 601-2 - Traverse Interval: 1m - Sample Interval: 0.25m Magnetometer - Bartington Cart System - Traverse Interval: 1m - Sample Interval: 0.125m The magnetometer survey has recorded magnetic responses which have been interpreted as being of archaeological interest. Enclosures are visible in two survey areas, along with pit-like responses, ditches, and some of the enclosures appear to have internal features including a tentative ring ditch. Some of the anomalies in one area correspond with undated linear features and enclosures that are recorded in the HER (MNT4499). Ditch-like responses have also been plotted in three other areas which may also be of interest. Numerous responses of uncertain origin have also been recorded and while the majority are probably due to natural or agricultural processes, archaeological origins cannot be discounted. Corroborated and conjectural former field boundaries have been marked in all of the survey areas. In four survey areas, linear anomalies of varying magnetic strengths mark the routes of land drains. Amorphous zones of increased response in four survey areas have been caused by variations in the underlying geology. Zones of magnetic disturbance are also visible which are likely to have been caused by spreads of modern debris.
