Trench 1 - A number of features were present mainly in the section and corners of the trench. One feature produced pottery from C15 to C16. (1) (2) (3)
A number of features indicating early Med activity on site were uncovered, many of these contained pottery of a black shelly fabric and a Stamford ware type. These included a gully or pit containing ... daub, a 1.5m by 0.7m ditch, a possible property boundary … [also] a 6m long slot with vertical cut edge, parallel to the road side. Also two linear features, 4m apart and c 1m wide, and running parallel to each other. Stratigraphically they were medieval, one contained shelly ware of C11 - C13. Excavation of part of one revealed [it] to be shallow, flat bottomed and cut by a number of post holes - possibly the remains of a timber structure. (4)
