Full Description

Group 4: C18-C20 deposits - Deposits predominantly belonging to C18 - C19 were recorded overlying the early market surface within Trenches 1,2,4 and 5, representing dumping and levelling. A dump deposit incorporating masonry, tile, brick and mortar was placed over (024) in Trench 5 during C19 - C20. Linear features in Trench 1 truncating the Group 3 surface may represent a phase of robbing. Within these robber cuts, backfill deposits contained artefacts dated to late C18 or early C19. (1)
See L12126 for earlier deposits.
