Full Description

Threshing barn and attached farm buildings. c.1780 with mid C19 alteration. Built for Jonathon Acklom. Range of stable, animal houses and cart sheds … obscured by the late C19 infill. (1)
A building to the west of the house is shown on the enclosure map of 1773 but it is not of the same size or position of the current building although parts do overlap. The building survey failed to show evidence of structure remaining from before the building of the complete rectilinear farmstead that is there today, in the early-mid 19th century. Part of the present day west range may have re-used earlier foundations in tis south-west corner, but the brickwork is consistent with an overall build of one period for all the outer walls of the farmstead.
