Full Description

The orangery (1889) was made round John Hallam's unusual bath summer house. C19 fountain. (1)
A garden building which began life as a bath house. [In] 1889 … Sir John Savile (later the 1st Baron Savile) converted [it] into an 'orangery' or hothouse for exotic plants. He achieved this by flooring over the sunken pool and covering the whole with a glass roof. (2)
