Full Description

Haughton Hall had a park from at least 1509, but the location appears to have shifted at least twice. A map of 1689 shows the park to the south of the Hall, and a garden beside the buildings. A view published in 1708 shows a deer park to the north, with a lodge, and many avenues of trees around the hall. The hall went out of use and was demolished by 1792. The park area shown as mostly converted to arable on Sanderson 1835. Various ponds and trees from the avenues survive. (1)
See M7473 for site of Hall, M4453 for chapel, M8712 for decoy.
