Full Description

Of five trenches excavated, only trench 7 contained wall plaster. Each of the contexts that produced artifacts within trench 7 also produced painted wall plaster. Some of the plaster recovered was painted light blue, and white with thin red band. One piece recovered had two thin bands of red and orange. Daniels (1959) excavated in this area and also recovered painted wall plaster.
The primary interest in the plaster from the evaluation is that it indicates features three features in trench 7 are likely the result of post-Medieval robbing that targeted the bathhouse itself.
Trench 7 is placed within the cold room of a bathhouse of a Roman villa.
