Full Description

On the northern side of the easternmost rifle range was a rectilinear enclosure. This feature was found in a heavily overgrown area and consisted of a 0.5m high bank with shallow ditches on both sides. The enclosed space formed by this earthwork is visible on the 1st edition OS map as ‘Brown’s Covert’. This enclosed space shared the same alignment as the rifle butt and it is suspected that when the range was constructed the southern end of the covert defined its location.
