Full Description
The ditch was cut into the geological natural, it was orientated east to west and had a shallow sloped profile and flat base. It contained a single fill, from which a whole earth sample was taken; this contained a substantial volume of terrestrial snail shells, along with a small volume of rootlets and straw or grass fragments. Horse and cattle bones were also recovered from this fill. This fill was in turn sealed by peat/organic rich deposit.
