Full Description

A Medieval plough soil layer produced a small sherd covered in concretions from a Nottingham-type Glazed ware (NOTGV) jug of 13th or 14th century date. Two flakes of unknown date were also discovered in this soil layer.

A single sherd from the lower handle join of a small Midlands Purple ware jug (MP) was recovered from medieval plough soil layer in another evaluation trench. The jug is of 15th or 16th century date.

Medieval plough soil layer in an additional evaluaiton trench produced a single sherd from a small Nottingham Light-bodied Glazed ware jug (NOTGL) of 13th to early/mid 14th century date. The jug has a bright copper-green glaze.

A sherd from a small Nottingham Coarse Sandy ware jug (NCSW) in an orange fabric was recovered from medieval plough soil layer above an evaluation trench. The jug is of potential 13th to 15th century date.

A tiny sherd from a small Nottingham Light-bodied jug of 13th to early/mid 14th century date
was recovered from medieval plough soil layer in the last evaluation trench.

One natural unworked flint was also discovered in plough soil.
