Full Description

The evaluation trench lay in the centre-north of the norther field of the site orientated east-west. A single feature, a large undated posthole, was cut into the geology in the eastern half of this trench.

The posthole was fully exposed and was squarish in plan with rounded corners. It had steep, almost vertical sides with a flattish base and contained two fills. The earlier fill was a redeposited clay, possibly packing around a post, while the later fill a clean sandy silt with flecks of the yellowish redeposited clay, likely deliberate backfill of the feature.
