Full Description

Approximately circular in plan with steep sides and containing a single fill.

An assemblage of artefacts including 27 sherds of middle Bronze Age pottery, 2 undated flint flakes, burnt bone fragments and 26 heat-cracked stones (discarded) was recovered from the fill of
posthole. No cereals were noted in the environmental sample from the fill, however low densities of wild grassland plant species including goosefoot, elderberry and rushes were recorded. With the artefact assemblageit is possible the feature is a pit rather than a posthole, however its dimensions are similar to the undated probable postholes in this trench therefore the function of the feature is unclear.
